Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House
There is a simple and modest house situated at the bustling capital of Vietnam. It is Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House which has become a special place and a historic and cultural relic. It evokes memories of President Ho Chi Minh ((known as Uncle Ho). Built in 1958, this house is a place President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked from 1958 to 1969. The two-storey house with a wooden tiled roof is so humble and simple. He used the ground floor as a living room to meet guests. A long table is set in the middle with wooden and bamboo chairs around. Wooden stairs at the back of the house lead to the second floor which is divided 2 small rooms simple arranged for work and rest.
In the front of the house, there is a fish pond with a variety of orchids blooms year around on its bank. There are also many scented flowers like fragrant jasmines and eglantines and fruit trees planted around the house. The fence around the house and gate is formed by hibiscus trees which reminds an image of his house in Nghe An Province.
The Uncle Ho’s house is located in the gardens of the Presidential Palace. After visiting Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, follow the Mango Road with a lot of the ancient mango trees on either side, you can go to the stilt house. Both domestic and foreign visitors can visit the house without paying any entrance fee every day of the year. Opening hours from 8:00 to 17:00. It is simply allowed everyone to see the grounds and rooms from outside.
Different from other cold, grave places in the Ho Chi Minh Complex, the Stilt House has a rather enchanting and peaceful air – a reflection of its owner’s personality, closed and friendly to his people.
Ho Chi Minh's Stilt House is a meaningful presence to Vietnamese people, a place where their beloved leader lived and died. Visiting the Stilt House, international tourist can see the respected attitude of domestic visitors – how they paid honor to the man who had lived here.
